Wheel throwing – Ceramic Doughnuts

Ceramic Doughnut Workshop

Ready to make clay look good enough to eat? 🍩
This intermediate wheel-throwing workshop is for students who are comfortable throwing cylinders and bowls and want to push their skills further.

Over three days (around 2 hours each), you’ll learn the technique of double-walled wheel throwing to create scrumptious doughnut sculptures—purely decorative or transformed into a playful vase. We’ll dive into underglazes and engobes to build bold colours and fun, drippy textures. Expect experimentation, sweet forms, and lots of creative fun—no calories included!

This workshop is taught by Stephanie (@little.monster.ceramics), a sculptor who creates everything from chairs and lamps to sculptures and tables. She combines hand-building and wheel throwing to bring even the wildest forms to life. (See schedule below.)

Before booking, please read all details below regarding cancelled bookings and missed classes.

Here’s what we’ll do in this wheel course:

7th March: prepare your clay, throw double-walled donut forms

14th March: trim 1-2 pieces, add texture or surface details

21st March: Use engobes and underglazes to add colour and pattern to the pieces

Your pieces will be glazed with a transparent glaze and fired in the kiln. You’ll pick up your pieces 2 weeks later
