Intensive Wheel Throwing workshop – 2026

Learn to throw from start to finish.

Join us for an immersive, 5-session intensive wheel-throwing course at Clayground Berlin! The classes will occur on Saturday mornings and end with a dedicated glazing day. The workshop provides a focused experience for those seeking to delve deeply into the art of clay and wheel work. Designed for beginners and experienced potters, this course is kept small with only 5 participants, ensuring personalized guidance and ample time on the wheel.

Before booking, please read all details below about canceled bookings and missing a class!

Here’s what we’ll do in each course session:

• 7th February:  Participants will be introduced to the ceramic process, starting with clay preparation & wedging. Following a demonstration of centering techniques, the first workshop will focus on pulling cylinders and alteration to create a simple cup or bowl shape. Students will receive guidance on throwing these basic shapes.
• 14th February: Participants will build on the first practice session with a focus on throwing cylinders to create cups and mugs.
• 21st February: Participants will build on the first practice session with a focus on throwing bowls in 2 sizes.
• 17th February: Trimming of cups and bowls – Participants will learn how to trim the bases of the pieces made during the last two sessions. This step tends to take time, so we encourage students to choose their favourite 2 pieces from previous sessions.
• NO CLASS ON 28th February: We bisque fire your pieces in the kiln for the first time
• 7th March: Students will be taught basic glazing methods and will have the opportunity to glaze their pieces.
• We fire your pieces in the second kiln after your glazing session to finish them
• Items will be ready for collection 2-3 weeks after the workshop.

Cancellations

Cancellations of any wheel course must be made at least 14 days before the course starts for a full refund. No refunds will be given when cancellations are made after this date.

Students must attend all SCHEDULED class times. If a student misses a session, NO MAKE-UP CLASSES will be offered.
