Tiziana

Ceramicist and studio owner

Tiziana, a Maltese ceramicist, is deeply passionate about working with clay, a fascination that took root at the age of 11. Having received instruction from Anna Ciavola, a notable Maltese artist, she was immediately captivated by the adaptable qualities of clay.

Primarily self-taught, Tiziana has honed her craft in studios across Edinburgh, East London, and Tallinn. Her eagerness to explore different techniques and glazes has led her to experiment with various firing methods, such as raku for sculptures and anagama for select vases.

Currently based in Berlin, Tiziana specializes in producing tableware for restaurants and cafes, along with home-ware items distributed in stores across London, Malta, Tallinn, and Helsinki. Her recent collaborations with restaurants and food enthusiasts can be found on her Projects page, while shop locations are listed on the Stockists page.

Her exposure to diverse environments and cultures has shaped her unique style, fostering confidence and an enriched sense of aesthetics. While most of her work revolves around wheel-thrown pieces, occasional forays into sculpture, particularly wall-sculptures, occur. She prefers working with stoneware and formulates her own high-fire glazes.

Her creations span a range of forms, including one-of-a-kind pieces, with a focus on functional designs inspired by her surroundings and travels. Nature, with its myriad forms and hues, serves as a prominent muse, influencing the structure, texture, and glaze of her work.
